Description
The Worship of the Golden Calf studies Trinidad and Tobago’s Point Lisas strategy which created gas-based industries in iron and steel, ammonia, urea and methanol through the lens of project planning and project management. It offers a detailed account of the development and implementation of the iron and steel project and the initial ammonia and methanol projects. It draws important conclusions for the role of foreign direct investment, technology policy or innovation policy and what small developing countries need to do to increase the chances of success of large industrial projects and maximise the developmental benefits which might accrue.
