Description

Kavita Ganness is a literary and visual artist from Trinidad, West Indies.
She is also a secondary school English teacher with over twenty years’ experience. She has a BA Degree in Communication Studies and Literatures in English (Double Major) and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (Fiction) from the University of the West Indies, St.
Augustine.
Her book of poems, Emerald Journey, was published by New Voices, a publishing imprint founded by Poet Anson Gonzalez.
She has been published in Generation Lion Magazine, The Caribbean Review of Gender Studies, She SEX Prose & Poetry: Sex and the Caribbean Woman, as well as Susumba’s Book Bag, The Caribbean Writer, Moko Magazine and the Poui Cave Hill Journal of Creative Writing Issue XVII and Woman Speak – A Journal of Writing and Art by Caribbean Women Volume 9 (2018).
She was a participant of the Cropper Foundation’s 8th Residential Creative Writers’ Workshop in Balandra, Trinidad with Dr. Funso Aiyejina and Dr. Merle Hodge. She also mentored with renowned Caribbean Writer, Earl Lovelace, workshopped with Dr. Monique Roffey and then with Professor Emeritus of Literature Mervyn Morris in Jamaica.
Kavita Ganness was the President of the Writers Union of Trinidad and Tobago (WUTT) for two years (2017-2019).
She is an artist and has had multiple showings of her artwork in exhibitions around Trinidad and the Caribbean. She has her Instagram account @kavganness where she sells her art.
