Ligahoo

Welcome to the play ‘LIGAHOO’ based on a traditional Caribbean folklore character. As you read you’ll be intrigued by the intricate plot and thrilled by an encounter with the supernatural. The main characters (Geraldo and Buck) both become involved with Ligahoo whose unearthly power is a magnet especially to Buck because of his greed for more wealth. Geraldo, also caught in a snare of obsessively seeking worldly power and prestige, eventually has to face his demons.

The families of two of the main characters, the Cox’ and Holders’, both help to develop the theme of family life set in the village of Hautterre, as well as Buck’s in the north of the island. The silly family arguments, deceit, ignorance and criminal undercurrents that run through the play expose the elements that are typical of any family in the Caribbean, and even world-wide. However, events also reveal the nicer side of life, such as light-hearted conversation and teasing comments made by family-members and the scene of entertainment during the Christmas season in Hautterre village. This is a piece of literary work no one in the Caribbean should miss. And for those beyond our shores, it will be the experience of a life-time!
