Boy Days

Boy Days

I was a child of the sixties, growing up in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad. ‘Boy Days’ refers to the skills you acquired and the experiences you had during that idyllic time.

Spinning tops, pitching marbles, climbing trees, flying kites and making slingshots were basic skills which every boy possessed. Much of the things we ate no longer exists.

This book attempts to describe what life was like for the benefit of today’s Generation X, with their smart phones, social media and virtual reality games. It also serves as a bittersweet reminder to old folks like me who pine for those golden days.

‘Boy Days’ is a collection of stories, ranging from the shocking to the hilarious, and all in between. Despite its title, it covers my whole life. That’s because, at age 70, I haven’t grown up yet.
