Bamboo Stories, tells the tale of the three men who society has cast out as drunkards and simply idlers. It weaves together a plot that explores the dark mysterious truth about the supernatural while sharing the cruel realities of life as a member of the Caribbean Society. The hypnotic resonance of the past lingers above the luxuries of modern living as Sagga, a drunkard tries to escape his past by creating a life for himself and his family. However, there is no ultimate sense of freedom until the past and present find deep reconciliation with each other. Between the grief of an unborn child, the loss of loved ones and the gruesome murder of the youth, the characters find peace in the healing hands of the community.
This is an intricate combination of play and poetry that envelopes the reader into a journey filled with music, magic and wonder.

Gabrielia Sooklal is a Tobagonian writer who explores the intricacies of the Caribbean region though her writing. Her love for the steel pan community and Caribbean history / folklore inspires her literary work. Being a young writer, she aspires to not just share her story but to share the story of those who have come before her, giving a voice to the voiceless through poetry, prose and drama.
