Sonia

SONIA, the novel, tells the story of a family that is struggling to anchor itself in a strange world. Sonia, the main character, is cast in an unexpected situation, her husband has passed away, and she must now provide for a family of eight. There’s no easy road to success and Sonia must combat all the obstacles on her way to fulfilling her dreams in a rapidly changing world.

SONIA also examines the lives of Karan and Baan, two brothers and their role in shaping the lives of others and their sister. Aunty Mama and Dolly help to characterize the society. The novel does have a lighter side in Dads.

SONIA is set in a sugar cane village but interestingly there is a strong urban influence on the lives of the characters. The novel also examines choices and how these decisions impact the lives of individuals.
