A mix of poetry and story and using poetry to tell a story, Caged weaves narrative and rhyme to tell a story… one never before told… Based on Greek mythology, Caged is set in the modern world where characters like Helen of Troy, Medea, and Circe are the self-named “Guardians” on an island unfound by mortals, under the mentorship of Hekate, the witch goddess… On this island is a dark forest where the monsters of Greek mythology are kept imprisoned, separate from the innocent mortals of this world, guarded by these women of Greek epics. However, being a jailor is a bore, so the women of this island mange to find their distractions in the human world…In comes Kore, a lost maiden who is running from a past she cannot remember – only equipped with the knowledge of a name not her own. As she meets and falls in love with a human, her past comes back to haunt her – and the man she’s falling for is not what he seems. A bringing together of the author’s passions in archaeology, mythology, magic, and poetry, this story is influenced by the Minoan Bronze Age on the island of Crete to pose the questions: What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to love? And what do people do in the name of love?
